Our Curriculum

What will my child learn?

The school follows the 2014 National Curriculum for all subjects.  Maths and English are in line with the National Curriculum and according to the ability of each child.  Children are assessed regularly to inform the planning of teachers.  Science is also taught as a discrete subject to ensure that all aspects are covered.  The school follows the Locally Agreed RE syllabus.

Phonics is taught at Key Stage 1 using Letters and Sounds.

We have a creative approach to the curriculum which is underpinned by the Cornerstones Curriculum.  The Cornerstones themes are planned to ensure that the children cover all aspects of the National Curriculum.  A long term plan of themes is planned and each of these themes will include covering History, Geography, Art, Design Technology and Music.  The long term plan is currently under review but topics for 2018/19 are planned to be:
